CAFF priorities met: Engaging Youth and Young People

Platte County faces alarming statistics when it comes to suicide rates; 43% of suicides in  Northeast Nebraska take place in Platte County. The Northeast Nebraska Suicide Prevention Coalition, a 501c(3) organization, recognizes this as a concerning public health issue, and is doing something about it.

The Columbus Area Future Fund has awarded a $10,000 grant to the organization to implement a program in Columbus called Healthy Minds. Healthy Minds will conduct awareness campaigns, educational workshops and speaking events in the area. Detecting warning signs of suicide and learning its “ripple effect” are areas of focus, as well as sending a message of hope and help, in order to save lives.

CAFF supports the value Healthy Minds brings to our area as it offers a community-wide impact for those in need.
